LOS ANGELES (AFP) - Teen idol Mischa Barton has become the latest Hollywood starlet to be arrested for driving and drugs offenses, Los Angeles police confirmed Thursday.
The 21-year-old actress was stopped in the early hours of Thursday in West Hollywood on suspicion of driving under the influence, possession of illegal narcotics and driving without a valid license.
Barton, who has a following amongst American teenagers thanks to her role as Marissa Cooper on the hit series "The O.C.," was stopped after being spotted weaving between two lanes in her Range Rover and not signaling for a turn.
Barton was currently being held in custody on 10,000 dollars bail as of 9:45 am (1745 GMT), celebrity website People.com reported.
Though best known for "The O.C.," London-born Bartons film credits include cameos in hit movies "The Sixth Sense" and "Notting Hill."
The arrest is the latest involving a young star.
Bartons friend Nicole Richie was found guilty of driving under the influence of marijuana and Vicodin earlier this year, while hotel heiress Paris Hilton and actress Lindsay Lohan were also jailed for DUI offenses this year.
Actors Michelle Rodriguez and "24" star Kiefer Sutherland are also currently serving jail terms for DUI.
