NICOLE RICHIE REACHES OUT TO THE HOMELESS
Soon-to-be mother Nicole Richie and Joel Madden were spotted out just before Christmas stocking up on wrapping paper at a party supply store in West Hollywood.
As previously reported by Gossip Girls, the former Simple Life star and her rocker boyfriend hosted a big ol' party last week for hundreds of children and their families as part of their Richie-Madden Children's Foundation.
Nicole told press, "It's hard to believe there are so many homeless families on the streets in our own neighborhoods. Estimates are that 25,000 families with 75,000 children are homeless in Los Angeles each year, and it's getting worse. So it was a no-brainer for us to pull this party together for them for the holidays."
As part of the shindig, the children got to roam around Paramount Studios, and were treated to cupcakes and cookies, face painting and balloons, and even a visit from Santa Claus himself.
And Richie is fast becoming Hollywood's philanthropic tour de force. She told press, "We want to do much more to address the homeless issue, especially where it puts children at risk. But for now, we can at least try to help them have a merry Christmas by giving them teddy bears and getting them fitted for shoes. That's something we can do right now, today."
Oh, and by the way, she's due to give birth next month to a (rumored) boy, so keep your eyes peeled for the new Richie-Madden collaboration!
