LONDON (Reuters) - David Gest, the reality TV show contestant and former husband of actress Liza Minnelli, was admitted to a London hospital with severe chest pains on Wednesday, his spokesman said.
The 54-year-old American was taken to hospital after complaining of breathing problems in the early hours.
"David is stable and receiving the best medical attention," the spokesman said. "We are awaiting a further update from doctors."
There were no further details about his condition. He is recovering in a private hospital in the capital.
The music producers public profile grew last year after he appeared in the jungle-based British reality TV show "Im a Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here!"
He went on to act as a judge on the talent search show "Grease Is The Word" and appeared in a pantomime called "The Twisted Carol" in west London this week.
He is due to tour Britain early next year with a musical about his life, "David Gest Is Nuts."
