HAYDEN PANETTIERE HITS FORECAST EARTH SUMMIT
She's more than just a pretty face, and Hayden Panettiere is out to prove it. She hopped a plane at LAX yesterday headed for Washington DC. And she's on a mission.
The "Heroes" starlet is part of The Weather Channel's Forecast Earth Summit. She's in the nation's capitol to speak about her involvement with the Save the Dolphins campaign, as well as to promote the Declare Yourself voting initiative.
For those who desire to join Hayden in her crusade, she'll be selling swag for a good cause. Items like "Save the Whales, Save the World!" t-shirts are being sold to help benefit nature charities.
After receiving a condescending letter from the Japanese government, Panettiere released a scathing statement, and has called for a boycott of Japanese goods.
She told press, "To say that Japan is carefully managing marine living resources for the future is a joke...In regard to dolphins and whales, Japan's blatant disregard for these species is unfathomable. Japan is cruelly and needlessly butchering over 20,000 dolphins and other small cetaceans every year...Your scientists can't even tell the difference between a marine mammal and a fish. Do you realize how ignorant Japan looks to the rest of the world?"
Ouch.
