Soon shoppers wont have to hassle with waiting in lines or even finding desired goods online, thanks to a new cell-phone-based technology, according to New Scientist magazine. Point-and-find technology being developed by Nokia will enable shoppers to buy an item by simply taking a picture of it. Once the photo is snapped, the service finds the same product online. It can be used in other situations, such as tourist searches for landmarks.

Fever can allay autism symptoms

Fevers appear to help autistic children socialize better by temporarily restoring nerve-cell communications in their brains, according to a Univ. of Drexel study. More than 80% of children in the study showed improvement in their behavior after a fever of at least 100.4 degrees. About 30% showed dramatic enhancement.

A laser gunship aircraft will undergo tests in 08 to prove its military prowess following the successful installation this month of a 12,000-pound laser into a C-130 plane. The Advanced Tactical Laser, developed by Boeing for the Defense Dept., promises to destroy or disable targets with little or no collateral damage, firing from a rotating turret in the planes belly.
