LONDON (AFP) - Former Beatle Paul McCartney underwent a secret heart surgery last autumn, it has been revealed Wednesday.
McCartney had coronary angioplasty, a procedure that opens up arteries to allow a greater flow of blood.
"Paul had been complaining about not feeling well and saw a Harley Street specialist at The London Clinic," The Sun tabloid quoted a source as saying.
"Tests were carried out and the decision was taken to operate. Paul had the angioplasty in a private hospital. It was all very routine but any work on your heart is a big deal," the source added.
The singer is currently embroiled in an ongoing divorce battle with Heather Mills.
His recovery was quick enough to perform with Kylie Minogue on Jools Hollands BBC Two New Year special.
A spokesman for McCartney confirmed that the operation had taken place last year.
